Guildford Dudley's Big Night Out
A Gardener at Bradgate House overheard a conversation between Guildford Dudley and Lady Jane Grey, where Guildford appeared to be describing a top night out he had had recently.
“It sounded like they had had an argument,” said the Gardener. “Although it was hard to tell. To be honest, I’ve never really overheard a conversation where they didn’t get sarcastic, or shout at each other. Maybe that’s just how they normally talk to each other.
They had their tiff and then, he spun on his heel, turned around and said something like ‘On the night I found out we were getting engaged, I did a massive pub crawl. I then watched some bear-baiting, before falling asleep drunk in the arms of a woman, somewhere in Suffolk. So there!’
It sounded like a real top night out!”
Lady Jane Grey was not available to comment, as she was busy reading a new book at the time. Guildford is now planning his Stag Night before the Hellraiser settles down with the Lady Jane. “If his last night out is anything to go by, it’s going to be a good one! Even I’m invited! Lock up your noble, unmarried daughters!”
Another Gardener, who wasn’t invited, added “His description of a great night out – it’s the kind of scene that you will probably see in a dramatic story telling of his life in years to come.”
