Sir John Shelton, Margaret Parker's Father-in-Law

On the 21st December 1539, Sir John Shelton died. John was the father-in-law of Margaret Parker - Jane Boleyn Lady Rochford’s younger sister - and uncle (by marriage) to Anne Boleyn. Margaret was married to his son, also another Sir John Shelton, who was the brother of Margaret (“Madge”) Shelton. Madge became Henry VIII’s mistress while still married to Anne Boleyn in 1535.

Sir John Shelton was Controller of the Joint Household of Mary and Elizabeth, Henry VIII's daughters from July 1536. He was buried at Shelton Church in Norfolk – the same place that Margaret Parker and his son John had married in in 1529 - in the chancel.
